Chocolate Apple Cake  

1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ lb butter
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 ½ cups warm stewed apple
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Level teaspoon bicarb soda
sprinkle of nutmeg
½ cup raisins or sultanas
2 cups plain flour

Cream the butter and sugar, add the fruit.
Dissolve soda and spices on the warm apples.
Add the flour, baking powder and cocoa. Stir well till all combined.

Pour into a greased swiss roll tin and bake for 10 minutes at 210 degrees C. Reduce the heat to 200 degrees C, bake for a further 20 minutes.

Ice with thick white icing and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
